Beechwood Park Nature reserve
In 2008 a grant from Big Lottery Fund/BBC Breathing Spaces was received by the group, this money was used to help develop a Local Nature reserve at Beechwood Park, North Halifax.
This included the installation of a wheelchair accessible route around the wilder areas of the park and the purchase and planting of wildflower plugs to enhance the wildflower meadow areas.
In 2009 a further Big Lottery Fund/BBC Breathing Spaces grant was received for follow up work. The funding was used to buy equipment and materials to run a series of events within Beechwood Park. A marquee, tepee, moth trap, ID cards and banners were purchased and used to promote the group to the attendees at the events.
These materials have been subsequently used by Calderdale Countryside Service to great effect in delivering environmental education and activities to many more people and families.
